KDE 4.3 nepomukservicestub

After I have upgraded to KDE 4.3 the process nepomukservicestub is permanently using 80% CPU.

Re: KDE 4.3 nepomukservicestub

Disable Nepomuk. This will by the way speed up KDE considerably. (At least it did so here.)

After all, it is of no real use yet. tongue

To know or not to know ...

Re: KDE 4.3 nepomukservicestub

nepomuk work grat on my eee 701 but there's a problem with the backends .
you have to lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 39  6. Aug 05:28 /usr/lib/libjvm.so -> /opt/java/jre/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so or if you pefer to openjdk to use the sesame2 backend which is really fast just the first-time index takes some time.
if you don't make the link the redland backend is used (slooooooooow and bugy)
ps with the sesame2 backend the complete nepomuk stuff works ,for example in dolphin the new searchbar or in krunner and so on smile

Do you have enabled Strigi in System Settings -> Advanced -> Desktop Search? If yes, it is probably reindexing your data. You should be told about what it does when you hover over the Nepomuk icon in the system tray.

I have a huge amount of indexable data and it took nearly a whole day to be indexed. Only a few times did I experience really high cpu loads, and that quite obviously depended on the kind of data being indexed. For me, it was clearly worth it to have my data indexed. Now Nepomuk (Strigi, actually) runs about a minute every couple of hours to check files, but does not do anything else otherwise. And, needless to say, searching works. smile

Re: KDE 4.3 nepomukservicestub

Strigi was not enabled.

After 3 hours the problem with the high CPU usage of nepomukservicestub disappeared. Now the system is running normally.
