I have the same issue since i updated yesterday. A lot of new KDE packages came in and I haven't found the time yet to figure out which one broke it.
SMPlayer also works for now as you said.
Edit: I have testing repo enabled.

Go to systemsettigns and set the default device on top; apply this for all output methods.

Pfff here is the selution
pacman -S gstreamer0.10-bad gstreamer0.10-bad-plugins gstreamer0.10-good gstreamer0.10-good-plugins gstreamer0.10-ugly
pacman -S gstreamer0.10-ugly-plugins gstreamer0.10-base gstreamer0.10-base-plugins gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
Now i can use amarok again
And thanks to Pierre no error message is shown

I tried this solution, there were libraries missing, same sound card as yours, but still not working for me, I tried with the "default" sound card but it's not working too...If someone has other ideas

Thanks svejaka, your solution also worked for me!
Still weird that KDE thinks the device doesn't work whilst it does actually work.
