Re: GONME and Xfce4 wont start while GDM works

So you want to have gnome with  gdm ?
Then edit  /etc/inittab to start gdm  http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Login_manager
then select gnome from gdm and start it. Also make sure you are running hal and dbus
by doing:
ls /var/deamons/run

Pro tip: did you configure  X ?

Could you please rephrase this and say what you want.

Do you want your system to boot , show gdm , login  and use gnome?
then use the /etc/inittab method and that should work.

If you are in gnome try restarting hal and if it gives an error , paste it here
