[solved]KDE login issue

Hi everyone,

Actually problem is what title says. KDE login doesn't accept my username/password. I didn't do anything particular before my last shutdown. But now, when i try to login, KDE login is not working. Interesting thing is that i can login from console.

I don't know what log do i have to put here to understand problem. You can ask for it.

Btw, at start "Activating Swap" fails. But i dont think that its relevant. I did another Arch setup to another partition, it should be about that and i did succesfull logins after it.

I hope someone can help that smile

Re: [solved]KDE login issue

Can you log in as 'root' using KDE login ? I ask this because if you can't then it suggests
that KDE login is somehow borked. If you can login as root, it suggests that only your user
name/password is borked.

Re: [solved]KDE login issue

Thanks for the answer. But unfortunately. I can't log in as root too.

Re: [solved]KDE login issue

Try:

rm -r /tmp/ksocket-<your-user-name>

ie rm -r /tmp/ksocket-yvz

Then re-boot. If this doesn't work, try

rm -r /tmp/*

as well. It could have been a dirty-shutdown that caused the problem.

Re: [solved]KDE login issue

@AdrenalineJunky,
No it's not full.

I tried to delete that file but it was already deleted. I mean, there was only ksocret-root file.

I created a new user, but result is the same.

Re: [solved]KDE login issue

Drastic measure time - have you tried deleting your .kde4 directory ? All your
settings [ desktop etc.. ] will be lost, but it should do the trick.

[EDIT]

You haven't inadvertently hit the CAPS-LOCK key have you ?
Stranger things have happened... smile
