Using a dark theme in kde4

hi

its much easier to view text on dark themes
so i got a few for kde4 but the problem is that it makes the
places in dolphin invisible
cant see a thing there
and also in pages like google you cant see your text

the workaround would be to change the font color
but there is just no option to achieve that
there are ways to change the font in use but none to change color for specific apps

any idea's guys

Might be a way to do it but I'm pretty sure the theme applies systemwide though.  Just look for another there our in the preferences dialog you can edit them yourself.

Re: Using a dark theme in kde4

na haven't been able to do it
the font is already set to a light colour
but it for some reason doesn't apply inside dolphin->places also the icons dont show

perhaps someone could suggest a good dark theme that i've missed out
coz all the themes that i try have this problem
the light ones seem just fine

Re: Using a dark theme in kde4

Dark themes have a historical problem, not just in KDE but in Gnome as well. App authors don't code for them, some values (as you've seen) are hardcoded. There's even a package in AUR to fix dark theme issues in openoffice...

I believe you might have to hand-code a solution to this. Don't use KDE so not sure what that would entail.

Re: Using a dark theme in kde4

i'm pretty sure that i don't have the technical competence to hard code values in the themes
i've had to shift to a much lighter theme
lets hope that some one has found a soulution or will find one in the near future
then i'll gladly switch to a dark theme
