Some help with my xorg and a 1920x1080 [SOLVED]

Hi all I've exhausted my abilities and knowledge with xorg, modelines, and willingness to get lost on google.

I currently own a HP 2159m  1920x1080@60 natural res /refresh.  I'm running that on an old Nvidia 5600Ultra  ... so I'm using the nvidia-173xxx drivers

I'm currently unable to get this thing into 1920x1080@60

What ever you need me to post I will so that I can get this thing out of the cruddy condition it is in (monitor doesn't like the video very much right now)

Thanks

[edit]

Ok this bit confuses me

I get this when do the following

Re: Some help with my xorg and a 1920x1080 [SOLVED]

Can you please post your xorg.conf?  Without that, it's really hard to answer problems about X11.

Re: Some help with my xorg and a 1920x1080 [SOLVED]

Here it is, the reason I posted the above is because it looked llke it was ignoring or doing something different than expected with what it detected.

Xorg is not something I know very well

Thanks

Re: Some help with my xorg and a 1920x1080 [SOLVED]

So, after grading papers I took another stab at it again.

I figured it had something to do with my EDID  and the part that confused me was that it new what all its native settings were but did didn't want to pass modevalidation

I tried to turn off EDID

Section "Device"
           Option "UseEDID" "False"
EndSection

and all that did was break things more but when I looked at the verbose output from x starting I noticed this

(--) NVIDIA(0): Connected display device(s) on GeForce FX 5600 at PCI:2:0:0:
(--) NVIDIA(0): HP 2159 (DFP-0)
(--) NVIDIA(0): HP 2159 (DFP-0): 140.4 MHz maximum pixel clock
(--) NVIDIA(0): HP 2159 (DFP-0): Internal Dual Link TMDS
(--) NVIDIA(0): HP 2159 (DFP-0): Native FlatPanel Scaling is supported
(--) NVIDIA(0): HP 2159 (DFP-0): DFP modes are limited to 60 Hz refresh rate
(--) NVIDIA(0): HP 2159 (DFP-0): DFP is not internal to notebook

This didn't seem to have anything to do with EDID and thats when I figured that it was this value that it was checking the max pixel clock against so I had to make sure it didn't do that and I got  rid of the

Section "Device"
           Option "UseEDID" "False"
EndSection

changed it to this

Section "Device"
           Option "ModeValidation" "NoMaxPClkCheck"
EndSection

and blammo it worked
Hope this can help someone else too

Mode is rejected: PixelClock (148.5 MHz) too high for
Display Device (Max: 140.4 MHz).

It's telling you that it doesn't like your MODELINE. How did you generate it?

--EDIT--

Nice. I'm glad that it's working.
