Cut and paste in XFCE4 and other nuisance

Hello all,

Few things that have been bugging me with the XFCE4:

1. "Cut" a file that's on the desktop and open Thunar and try to "Paste" it into a folder = nothing happens. The only way is to open Thunar first -> Go to desktop -> grab the file and paste it somewhere.

1. Re-sizing windows - the "grabbing area" for the mouse pointer is very very miniscule. Move your mousepointer 0.5 millimeter and the grabbing is lost.

Any way to remedy these problems?

Thanks

1: Not a solution, but why not stop using the desktop to store stuff?
2: seems to depend on the size of the window decoration theme

Re: Cut and paste in XFCE4 and other nuisance

As for problem 1, I think the problem has to do with thunar managing the desktop, but the thunar daemon hasn't been started yet. I suggest starting a session of xfce, start thunar (and the daemon) close thunar (daemon still runs) and then logout and check "Save session for future use" (or something like that) which should store the thunar daemon in the session and start it again on login

Not sure about 2, I never had a problem with it, so I'd guess what rwd said would be true

@rwd - I usually don't store stuff on my desktop but once in a while I do, but yeah that's a habit thing.

@sctincman - Thanks for the tip... the thunar trick didn't work though.

Hmmm, I wonder if it's because I was completely wrong (very possible) or got the session thing wrong, Try settings->Session and Startup, then tab over to session and see if thunar is there. If it isn't, try starting it, and then hit save session in that window.

Hi,

I tried that, but it doesn't solve the problem. It's ok I can live with that. ^^
Thanks.

That seems to partially solve the problem. I can now cut and paste but I have to do it twice (!).
Thanks.
