dmix plugin playback stream

On attempting to use wine to start the setup.exe for microcap9, I get the following:

I've followed the directions here: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/All … nd_at_once.
Multiple programs can play sound at once, there isn't a problem with that, it seems that there may be a problem with my mic, which hasn't been configured, and doesn't seem to be detected when I run any sound capture program.
If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated.
