I'm using kde from extra. My problem is that when I copy/remove/etc some files the view in dolphin isn't updated. I must press F5 to see changes.

Is installing fam alone enough or do we have to add it to daemons in rc.conf

Install gamin instead of fam. No need to put it in rc.conf

I have gamin installed and I am seeing this issue. Also there is at least one forum thread where someone reported that installing fam doesn't solve this.
I haven't investigated any further, since refresh in only an F5 away and I can live with that. But in this case, for once, "do a search" isn't the answer.

AFAIK dolphin should not need fam/gamin for local file systems, it can use the inotify support in the kernel. No idea why it does not work for you though.

If you have gamin installed, then uninstall it and see if it changes anything (make sure to kill gam_server or whatever the process is).

I have the same exact issue and I can also confirm Fam/Gam does not solve it, because KDE uses it's own thing rather than those. I would also like to see this resolved too, because it is VERY annoying, especially when you're working on a ton of files on your desktop periodically.

I have the same problem. I've tryied fam and gamin and none of them works. However I've looked at kubuntu 9.10 and there it works so it's definitely arch issue.

Noticed this too on occasion, this started happening when I updated to 4.3.3.
