Hey,
I am having this problem where when trying to boot Arch it will have the error:
modprobe: FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.31-ARCH/modules.dep: No such file or directory
After this it exits into the ramfs$ prompt. When I navigate to the /lib/modules directory there is only a directory for
2.6.30-ARCH and not the 2.6.31-ARCH.
I created the directory 2.6.31-ARCH then I tried to depmod which seemed to work but the modules.dep was empty and also does not last a reboot.
I mustve updated the kernel and something went askew. Any help would be appreciated.
I am sure I havent given enough information to resolve the problem but I dont know what people would need so let me know and ill supply that information as quickly as possible.
Thanx.

Sounds like you updated the kernel, but for some reason, the initcpio wasn't updated.

Any way to fix this as I cant access my main system which is not a good thing.
Or at least rollback to 2.6.30 in order to use the existing kernel information.

Hi all!
I have a same problem: I've got this "modules.dep: No such file or directory" when I type: modprobe tun
My error message is:
FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.18-4-pve/modules.dep: No such file or directory
It is a VPS, I rent it from: http://vpsville.ca/arch-vps
Could you can help me? What package I need to install, or what is my mistake?
Thanks.
