Silly firefox custom names...

Why is firefox named differently in Arch?
Shiretoko and Namoroka. It's just stupid and it confuses my internet bank.
Anyone who has a good answer to this?

Re: Silly firefox custom names...

Our Firefox has unofficial patches. They have to remove all branding and change the name.

correction, the name is automatically and follows the codename name when disabling branding.

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Search the forums for firebrand.

What "default"? This is the default.
Because Mozilla does not allow others that distribute patched/modified/customized versions Firefox to use their Mozilla Firefox branding it is not in there. You can enable branding yourself if you really want, it's not that hard, just check the wiki for example.

Re: Silly firefox custom names...

In about:config change general.useragent.extra.firefox to whatever you need (e.g. Firefox/3,6).  It's crap web design by your internet bank at work here.  Alternatively install the user agent switcher add on.

Re: Silly firefox custom names...

I swear there was an email on arch-general with almost exactly the same question. The answer there was to tell your bank to check for the gecko version number, or use an addon like https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/59 to give your browser a different appearance to the bank's webserver.

Re: Silly firefox custom names...

Thank you all. About:config worked. I just changed "general.useragent.extra.firefox" to firefox instead of Namoroka.
