yet another kdm/kde start problem

Hi all,
I know there are so many posts on the internet about "I cant not log in through kdm" and so on... But it seems there is no standart solution out there.
Anyways,
I have been searching for my problem but no luck. First I could not log in through kdm. When I typed my username and password, kdm disappears(I can see the console login for a sec) and then goes back to kdm login screen again. Then I changed the inittab file to see if there is any changes happen when I start everything from console.
When I typed "startx" as a normal user, it gives me the error

Cannot move old log file ("/var/log/Xorg.0.log" to "/var/log/Xorg.0.log.old"
Please consult the The X.Org Foundation support at
http://wiki.X.Org for help.

giving up.
xinit:  No such file or directory (errno 2):  unable to connect to X server
xinit:  No such process (errno 3):  Server error.

When I try to start kde by typing startkde as a root, it gives me

$DISPLAY is not set or cannot connect to the X server

When I look at the errors file(I dont remember the exact location I guess it could be in /var/log/errors) it says

Cannot open ConsoleKit session: Unable to open session: The permission of the setuid helper is not correct

Have any suggestions to solve the problem?
Thanks in advance

Edit:
By the way, I can not login as a root through kdm either. My home folder for user has the right permissions and my disk is not full.

Well, that surely is a hint. How and when did this problem come about?

Re: yet another kdm/kde start problem

Hmm,
Thanks for the reply first of all.
Actually, when I installed kde, I could login to kde. But, on my second attempt I could not login through kdm.
I changed one config file (I can not remember what it was) to be able to use "sudo" command. I never thought that could be the problem, since I am not able to login with root either.

Re: yet another kdm/kde start problem

Hm, I suggest you undo the steps. Which directions did you follow to get sudo working? The wiki? If so, find that page, undo everything, check /var/log/pacman... and uninstall whatever, make sure your /etc/group file is in order and start anew smile
