Re: [SOLVED]firefox locking sound

Uninstall libflashsupport, then flash will use ALSA, as it should.

Why do so many Arch users have libflashsupport installed?

Re: [SOLVED]firefox locking sound

Are you using pulseaudio?
I had the same problem. I installed "libflashsupport-pulse" from AUR and the problem is gone. Now firefox volume control appears in the gnome-mixer ("gnome-media-pulse" from AUR too) and multiple sounds from different programs is possible. Flash works fine for me.

Re: [SOLVED]firefox locking sound

I have uninstalled libflashsupport (no stray files left behind) and I am using Adobe's libflashplayer.so, but I still have this problem. I am using ALSA and I don't want to use Pulse.

I have also reported the bug here:

Re: [SOLVED]firefox locking sound

Show some debugging info:

wget -O alsa-info.sh http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh
bash alsa-info.sh

Also show:
fuser -v /dev/snd/* /dev/dsp*
