ifconfig -a lists a wlan0 device, ifconfig (without -a) does not
lspci shows "09:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 5300 AGN [Shiloh] Netwrok Connection"
iwlagn and iwlcore are in my modules list and not blacklisted
Networkmanager works perfectly for the wired connection, however the option to "enable wireless" is greyed out. I have installed the firmware ( iwlwifi-5000-ucode ).
What is my next step to get wireless working?
EDIT: more info: "rfkill list" shows the device as hard blocked. I checked that wireless was enabled in the bios and I tried pressing the kill switch again ( Fn + F8 ) but no change.
I also tried "rfkill unblock 0" and "rfkill unblock all"
EDIT AGAIN: I replaced the wireless card a while back ( used to be a realtek card ). I pressed the wireless kill button when trying to figure out how to get a usb adapter to work for another computer. Now the wireless wont turn back on. Are there any known ways to fix this problem ( other than what I found about taping over a pin on the card ). This seems to be my problem, The laptop dual-boots windows and I cannot get it to work there either.
Solution: Remove battery and power cord... the simplest solution of all.
