Installing VLC through pacman fails

When I run

sudo pacman -S vlc

it fails with the following message

failed retrieving file 'sdl-1.2.14-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz' from mirrors.kernel.org : File unavailable

This happens with other mirror sites as well.

Any help?

Re: Installing VLC through pacman fails

it looks like the sdl package was just updated, so most mirrors probably haven't synced to the new package yet.  I would just give it a little time for the mirrors to update, or use the official mirror if you want.

pacman -Syu && pacman -S vlc

you have this problem because your database is not synced and is trying to download an older version. In repos we have now sdl-1.2.14-2

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Thanks. After syncing, it worked well!

Re: Installing VLC through pacman fails

If this happens I usually just switch to the main repos and Syu. That usually works as they are synced well.
