Crashplan backup software - stopping daemon fail

Hello,

I started testing the crashplan backup software which is provided by a package in the AUR.

So far it's working very well.

I start the daemon in /etc/rc.d/crashplan and then launch the application CrashPlanDesktop.

Am I right that I need to crashplan daemon as this is the engine or is it fine to just launch CrashPlanDesktop?

I'm asking because I always get the error that the daemon cannot be stopped on shutdown.

I'm glad to hear how you are using crashplan.

Regards

Re: Crashplan backup software - stopping daemon fail

Just as a note I needed to make a change to the file /opt/crashplan/install.var by changing the JAVACOMMON variable from /usr/java to $(which java) and everything seemed to move forward from there.  Although you do need to startup the daemon separately from the desktop app.

Works fine for me.  I am starting crashplan engine from /etc/rc.conf.  It shuts down fine when i reboot.
