Interesting 3D renders in gnome shell
Hi everybody, it's here a great comunity with great people, thank you for making my life easier.
I have installed Arch Linux and gnome shell, in this moment i have the 3.4 version (all fully updated) and i have some problems with the rendering of the windows under the shell of gnome-shell, (in fallback mode this doesn't happens, I mean).
I know, if i don't use gnome shell i won't die for that stuff, but will be really nice if someone could help me to make that work. Thank you
I have tried in x86_64 and i686 and there is no difference in this aspect

your direct rendering is fine. Can you manually turn off the forced fallback mode in gnome-control-center?

Thank you for you answer hadrons123, the settings that you mention in your post mean that if isn't "forced fallback" it will try to load the Gnome shell first, and then if it's there a problem it will load the standard or fallback session with gnome-panel and metacity, instead of Mutter and Gnome shell. If it's "forced fallback" it only will try to load the standard "fallback session" with gnome-panel and metacity.
However in my desesperation, I tried that and other semi-unrelated things , even I had x86_64 and I reinstalled all in i686 just to see that there isn't a bug in 64 bits version.
I was thinking that my graphic card doesn't support OpenGl (Gnome shell uses Clutter that uses OpenGl) because it's very old. But it does (it has the support for the 1.00 specification).
Then I read that many people had problems with ati drivers for the tearing and flickering but I hadn't that in gnome shell 3.4, in fact i supposed that 3.4 will improve the previous 3.2 when i read that 3.4 will have a "no 3D composition" setting but it doesn't...
In Gnome shell 3.2 I only could open a single window, when I tried to open another pushing the "activities" button, the Gnome shell crashed, in 3.4 there isn't that problem, I can open all the windows that I wish. but the only thing that I see of the windows, are the shadows of the windows in the terminal for example, and a blue square in file manager, games, music player, video player, etc.
I'm really happy with all of your support, But, I wonder if someone could give me another hint. Thank you.

@joseperezc: I have an older box that I just updated this evening for the first time in a couple weeks, and I am seeing this same behavior you describe: all I get are blue boxes where the application windows should be. I haven't had much of a chance to troubleshoot it yet, but I know the big batch of updates applied tonight included all of the GNOME 3.4 stuff for the first time on this box, as well as the 3.3.4 kernel. Prior to the update, the box was on the 3.3.1 kernel and GNOME 3.2.
My box uses an older nVidia card that seemed to be supported fine prior to the updates.
This probably doesn't help you much, but maybe it will give someone else on the forums a bit of a clue as to what might be wrong with our systems.
