plymouthd could not start boot splash, no such file or directory

Could someone please give me a hand with plymouth, please?

I am getting the above error message on start up and a blank splash.

My mkinitcpio.conf reads:

MODULES="i915"
BINARIES=""
FILES="/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf"
HOOKS="base udev autodetect plymouth pata scsi sata resume filesystems usbinput fsck"

/etc/default/grub

GRUB_DEFAULT=0
GRUB_TIMEOUT=5
GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR="Arch"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="init=/bin/systemd resume=/dev/sda5 nologo fastboot loglevel=3 console=tty1 quiet splash"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""
GRUB_PRELOAD_MODULES="part_gpt part_msdos"
GRUB_TERMINAL_INPUT=console
GRUB_GFXMODE=1024x768x24
GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep
GRUB_DISABLE_RECOVERY=true
GRUB_COLOR_NORMAL="light-blue/black"
GRUB_COLOR_HIGHLIGHT="light-cyan/blue"
GRUB_THEME="/usr/share/grub/themes/Archxion/theme.txt"

the plymouth theme is the default, spinfinity, which is installed at /usr/share/plymouth/themes/spinfinity

I have already  tried plymouth stable and git, and kdm.service and kdm-plymouth.service.

Thanks

Andrew

Re: plymouthd could not start boot splash, no such file or directory

you install from aur plymouth and you set a default plymouth and you rebuild the initramfs with yours changes to mkinitcpio.conf and plymouth theme selected??

Well, I suppose that this is somekind of signature, no?

Re: plymouthd could not start boot splash, no such file or directory

Yes to all, and tried more than one theme, rebuilt grub and initramfs.

I must have done something wrong.

There are no apparent errors in the logs. They suggest that the vesa fb is replaced by the intel fb, plymouth is started etc etc, but I still do not see any splash.
