Just did my first fresh systemd install and after booting up for the first time I notice I don't have an internet connection and subsequently after investigation that I don't have a dhcpd service loaded... no idea how to proceed.

I guess you mean dhcpcd? As far as I can tell, the service gets loaded when necessary, when you configure your network client and network connections.

It happenes to me also."# dhcpcd" brings it up.I use net-auto-wireless.So after installation process I run wifi-menu and choose my network and put password for it.After that simpli "# systemctl enable net-auto-wireless" and it's working.

Start the service for your current session, enable it to have it run next time you boot.
