Hello,
I would to extract some .zip files with Ark but doesn't do. I have tried to download another .zip archive of source code and it worked. But with those archives that I have recently downloaded, nothing.
And p7zip seems doesn't do anything.
I thought that the archives was corrupted, but in Windows I can extract them.
What could be?
Thanks, Grant.

"Doesn't do anything" isn't much to go on; post the errors if any. Have you tried using unzip?

Is installed. I have forgotten to say that files have a password. .zip and .7z are different right? If true, those files are .7z.

Yes, zip and 7z are very different. When you run '7z x <archive>' what is the output?

It has success. But why Ark doesn't do that?

Could be many reasons. Does Ark spit out errors to the terminal when you try to extract a 7z file with it?

Great things come in tar.xz packages.

The files are .7z, not .zip (and he has p7zip installed).

It's simple: it doesn't do anything. Trying opening a file, from the program, it doesn't open it.

Correct.
For now I use a for statement to extract all downloaded. files.
A really strange thing is that from the dolpin menu, also with 7zip the archive isn't extracted.

For me installing unzip package from extra work in Ark.
Have you try this command:
7z e /path/to/your/file
Does it work?

Yes, sure. For now I have to use it to extract my files.

Run "ark file.extension" in the terminal and see if you get any output.
Ark had problems with passwords, maybe it has them still/again. Or it is some general problem with some archives, if you don't even get prompted for a password. Browse bugs.kde.org.

I tried how you said: ark is opened and on the right there is the filename. For the rest, anything: in terminal, password requests anything.
I should to try to open a .7z file without password?

I am afraid I don't understand what you are saying.

Hi all,
I'm experiencing the same problem. Ark does not extract 7z files protected with a password.
extracting it asks for password but seems it does not extract anything.
Everything works using the command line as Chuck Arch Linux said.
I would change the title of the thread.
Thanks
