Troubles getting plugins work in Opera

Got fresh install with everything up-to-date. Got jre7, icedtea, flashplugin and gecko-mediaplayer, all visible under opera:plugins. Yet on youtube I got black rectangle only. Neither flash test nor java test page show any of them working. Tried totem also, no change.

As for flash, I got non-SSE2 system but I have unsucesfully tried several flash versions, including two 10.3 (currently 10.3.183.20). No change. Am I missing anything?

Here is opera:plugins listing:

Re: Troubles getting plugins work in Opera

Anybody? I'd like to have it fixed today, I am leaving tomorrow.

Usually there has been some package nobody listed as dependency or iot was actually not dependency, but needed for stuff in browser to work. I got everything which used to be needed, but after the drastic changes in Arch in last months, I don't have bloody idea what do I need…no video is working in Opera ATM.

Not even HTML5 is working. I have gstreamer0.10 base, good and even bad.

Re: Troubles getting plugins work in Opera

OK, this is strange. I installed Firefox to try. Everything is working fine there. So why not in Opera? Nothing is missing. I tried to have a look by:

ldd /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so

as stated here http://my.opera.com/ruario/blog/flash-problems-on-linux and all libraries are there.

I even tried to create symlinks from mozilla to opera plugins folder but next to changing path, Opera still does not display any multimedia content.

Re: Troubles getting plugins work in Opera

Here is a trick I'm not sure if it'll work with Opera, I think you have to go into opera's configuration options to tell it where java's classlib path is.
I referenced: https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/java :
You remove icedtea-web and instead download from http://www.java.com the proper linux tar.gz source linux for 32-bit and linux64 for 64-bit.
Then you tar xzf it into /opt under it's own directory, and then ln -s /opt/<wherever>/jre-<current version>/lib/<architecture>/libnpjp2.so ~/.mozilla/plugins.
It was so much easier on Arch than Ubuntooslow.
I was having problems some java dependent applications, and when I did this it at least fixed the problems with the icedtea-web plugin.
These instructions from the Ubuntu community seem to echo into Opera: http://www.opera.com/docs/linux/plugins/install/#java

I may have to CONSOLE you about your usage of ridiculously easy graphical interfaces...
Look ma, no mouse.

Re: Troubles getting plugins work in Opera

I am not currently by that computer so I cannot try. That could explain Java, but what about the other plugins? None seemed to work…

Re: Troubles getting plugins work in Opera

I'm having the exact same problem. I'm using ArchPup though which is Arch Linux modded to work like Puppy Linux.

the plugins are there in 'about:plugins' but java tries and never loads, and flash only gives an empty black box. so it also tries but doesn't load. if it wasn't there, it would just say, "You must download the latest Flash Player." but it does not say that.

works fine in firefox. flash works fine in opera 11. opera 12, i can't get it to go. and have vigorously tried, many things, for many hours now.

Re: Troubles getting plugins work in Opera

I have upgraded to latest versions of everything (had to downgrade flash of course and remove it from pacman to not ugprade it in future). In Firefox it works, in Opera I still get black box only. Java nothing.

Anybody has any clue what may be wrong? Has somebody working Opera 12 (12.14 ATM) with flash and java under Arch?
