VMWare Player will not create new Machine

The title basically says it all. I've installed VMWare Player 5.0.1. The Player starts fine and I can load Virtual Machines that I had previously created, however when I try to create a new Virtual Machine (by going through the entire Create a new Virtual Machine setup process) VMWare crashes with no error. I'm at a loss of what to do from here and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't mean to bump this post but does anybody have any clue about this one?

Try looking in the log file for errors /tmp/vmware-yourlogin/vmware-player-xxxx.log
