I've had this problem for ages and I never could wrap my head around it.
In short, if I boot my PC with my USB headset plugged in, it completely overrides my on board Intel audio, and obviously everything works as intended if it's not plugged in during boot.
Both devices are working perfectly, all I need to know is how to change the priority so I don't have to unplug my headset every time I reboot.
I'm sure the answer is in the wiki somewhere, but I haven't been able to find it.
best regards.

My apologies that this is not always obvious, despite my best efforts.
