old prob of applets quitting unexpectedly

Just installed Arch from latest 32 bit cd after a couple of years lay-off.
I use Gnome fallback.
I searched the forum and found similar posts from a few years ago but no fix.
Window List has quit unexpectadly
Workspace Switcher " "
Clock " "
Notification Area " "

Reload etc etc
It happens every few seconds with the above applets alternatively.

I may be behind in the changes to Arch but it's good to get back to it.

Please can someone help me to fix this?

Logs... anything? I assume what you are reporting here is from the notifcations, which simply tell you what is probably pretty apparent. More info is certainly needed here.

I reinstalled because of a couple of other things and the problem went away
