I was wondering how I can set up netctl so that it will automatically be in favor of my ethernet-interface profiles as opposed to the wireless, or does this occur automatically?
For example, I could be connected to a wireless network, and after plugging into an ethernet outlet, I would want netctl to switch accordingly. Would I have to manually stop the netctl-auto@wlan0.service?

I ran:
man netctl.special
and you should take a look at "netctl-ifplugd@<interface>.service"
Hope this helps.

This is possible. To favor a wired connection over a wireless connection, first open up your wired profile and add:
Priority=1
Then open up your wireless profile and add:
Priority=0
Now, when a wired connection is detected, it will be used. Unplug the cable and it will automatically activate the wireless profile.
