Perhaps you should ask on the forums for those distros.
If they are arch based, they are arch+something. Why would the arch linux forums no what that something was? The forums for the group that added that something, on the other hand, would know exactly what it was.

I had hope that depends from some package or some simple config which Arch users know. My question was releated to other distibutions, but the goal of this question was What Arch needs to make it cooler, I havent seen obstacles to ask here, maybe I was wrong.
Anyway, I will ask on these distros forums, If i get solutions for this laptop issue, I will post here.

Try using USB stick instead of a HDD for Arch itself, too.

I suggest changing the title from 'are cooler' to 'run cooler'. My first thought when I saw this title was "omg, not another rant".
If you install Arch Linux and provide some details about your hardware and software, maybe somebody will be able to help.

The Archivist (pronounced as if it were the combination of "archlinux" and "activist" or pronounced as referring to someone dealing with "archives"?), hath spoken. If you want any kind of help on this topic, you'll need to provide more details about your rig and install.
All the best,

How much does an HDD contribute to the overall system temperature?

what these distros have, what my Arch doesnt ?:P
A usb stick to run on?
Maybe try like for like comparrisons? Arch on usb vs arch on HD? Other distro on usb vs other distro on HD?
I would imagine utilising an internal HD on a laptop would generate a little heat.

I won't provide you with exact (or 'universal') data since it depends on a hardware platform (air circulation for instance) and HDD make among other things, but you may want to experiment with it if you have noticed the difference. I would also check and compare nVidia settings.

It's at least also possible that the usb might provide enough of an io bottleneck that the processor isn't driven as hard under some circumstances.

Do 'live' distros even use the nvidia card? The last time I used a live distro graphics were simply generic vesa.
