In trouble with grub and syslinux [SOLVED]

So I have done a stupid. While not paying enough attention to which machine I was working on this morning I updated syslinux on a grub2 machine making it unbootable. I have chrooted in, removed syslinux and deleted ldlinux.sys. Then I did a new grub-install into my bios boot partition but it is still trying to run syslinux at boot. What am I missing?

Nvm. Beat it. Just had to remove the whole syslinux directory in my boot partition.
