Sent to grub console?

I just installed arch linux, following the beginners guide but using grub instead, and I get sent to the grub console. I read the troubleshooting part about what you are supposed to do if this happens, but I don't understand it. Thank you.

Which particular bit are you having trouble with?

What have you actually tried?

If you are have trouble following the documentation then perhaps Arch isn't the best fit for your needs.

Re: Sent to grub console?

Welcome to Arch Linux.   I don't even know where to start with this post; you have told is literally nothing.
Consider what you have written -- what are we supposed to do with that?

Tell us again and be specific.  For one, is it an EFI or an MBR system?
What are the messages? Specifically.
How did you install it? Specifically.

Re: Sent to grub console?

Sorry for being vague, here is some more info:
I am using a UEFI system, https://wiki.archlinux.org/GRUB#Drop_to_rescue_shell is the error I am getting, but my grub.cfg is there and my boot partitions partition number shouldn't have changed. I have been looking around but can't find much about this issue.

Re: Sent to grub console?

Also, I installed it using a USB flash drive that was made using rufus.

No, it's not. It just takes us to the front page (https://wiki.archlinux.org/GRUB#Drop_to_rescue_shell). Assuming you meant to link to this page then it still is useless for us to help you.

We are not mind-readers, we do not have access to your system to debug. We want to help, but we can only work with the information you give us. I suggest you read this and try again: http://www.catb.org/esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

Re: Sent to grub console?

Drop to rescue shell

If GRUB loads but drops you into the rescue shell with no errors, it may be because of a missing or misplaced grub.cfg. This will happen if GRUB UEFI was installed with --boot-directory and grub.cfg is missing OR if the partition number of the boot partition changed (which is hard-coded into the grubx64.efi file).

This is from ArchWiki - it is better to have UUID than device names. Device names like /dev/sdXY can change with each boot, UUID is not changeable across reboots. You can check it with

 sudo blkid

and with this UUID, put it in /etc/fstab near root partition with UUID=<some random numbers> and rest of the mountpoints.
