Applications have KDE theme in Xmonad

Whenever I open an application in Xmonad, it takes the KDE theme. This can be quite annoying, as it is often broken (for examples icons are not uniformly sized and are either WAY to big or WAY to small).

How do prevent applications from using the GTK or KDE theme? Or at least, how do I switch in between themes?
