I'm doing a net install but it fails with
fatal kernel too old
. I'm not too familiar with arch but if I'm doing a net install I would think it would have the latest kernel. I really want to give arch a try.
Thanks

What do you mean by "net install" ? Follow the installation guide. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Installation_guide
Get the current iso from here: https://www.archlinux.org/download/

How exactly are you installing? List the steps you're taking.
Is there a reason why you're trying a net install rather than the standard installation media?

Well I download the iso and burned it. Then during the installation it gave me the option to do a net install or from my dvd. I prefer net installs because you get the latest. Guess I'll have to start over

That wasn't the Arch iso you downloaded, where did you get it from?
All Arch installs download the latest packages from the internet.

If it gave you the option, the disk was from 2012 or older.

I don't know how that could have happened since I just bought new dvds. Anyway I made sure I used the new one, I'll install tomorrow. I'm comfortable with cli since I was a long time gentoo user.
Thanks for clearing the confusion.
