It seems that my last "pacman -Syu" installed qt4.5 and now Kde4 doesn't start anymore. Kdm gives the following error:
kstartupconfig4: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libkdecore.so.5: undefined symbol : qt_locate_initialized
How can I downgrade Qt? Or anything else I can try?
thx,
Jan

Are you sure that this is Qt4.5 fault. I have installed Qt4 on my KDEmod and I have no problems what so ever. And KDEmod isn't that different from vanilla KDE.
To downgrade Arch read this: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Downgrade_packages
Do you use a default KDM theme or did you change it? Maybe the KDM theme is not supported in Qt4.5?
Sorry i can't help you more as it works here.

hey I'm sorry for this. It seems something went wrong with the last system-upgrade. I've started the upgrade again and now everything works. Thread can get deleted.

I upgraded this morning to KDE 4.2.2 on i686 and got he same problem. I have these repos:
[kdemod-core]
Server = http://kdemod.iskrembilen.com/core/i686
[kdemod-extragear]
Server = http://kdemod.iskrembilen.com/extragear/i686
[kdemod-playground]
Server = http://kdemod.iskrembilen.com/playground/i686
A simple:
pacman -Sy qtmod
corrected it.
I don't know why it broke though. When reinstalling it told me:
> pacman -S qtmod
Avertissement: retourne à la version antérieure du paquet qtmod (20090118-1 => 4.5.0-4)
Résolution des dépendances...
Why I had qtmod 20090118-1 I don't know!
