HAL - mount problems

Hello everyone
1. I have a Windows partition on my machine (sda4), and when i try to mount it with pcmanfm, i get error with hal about: org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume.UnknownFailure.
I can mount it manually as root with "sudo mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sda4 /mnt/windows/", but i would like to it as normal user too, with pcmanfm.
I tried to follow  this: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NTFS_Write_Support and tried using that ntfs-config package, but it didn't work.
What should i do?
2. I would like to have my optical drive always being seen, how can i do it?
Thanks
