Re: Stalonetray / Panel openbox questions

I couldn't seem to figure out visibility-git for some reason. How does that work?

Panels are mostly valuable for information. Like the current time, battery state (if you're using a laptop) and that sort of thing.

Easily done in Conky as well. Conky can monitor battery info as well. You can also use batterymon (developed by a fellow Archer) in the systray smile

I am not trying to force any particular way...All I am saying is things can be done without panels too.

Visibility is simply a taskbar that shows the icon of the program that's running.

In the config file, in ~/.config/visibility,  you can specify alpha and colors for the various states, and colors and fonts for the tooltip.    There's another file in that same location that allows you to set what icon get's displayed.

It's kinda handy actually, because if an urgent hint is set on a window,  the icon in visibility will also flash.

I used conky but now I just use xfce4-panel with a tray and some monitors. It occupies 1/3 of the space conky occupied with more or less the same information.
Anyway, if you're going to use conky you better reserve that space so windows don't cover it (in order to be able to see that information at all time) and what you did is make a panel smile
