[solved] ss-t-ram (working/xfce), s-to-disk (no working)

Hi!

I'm a little confused about the way things work/interact here:

- I'm not sure if I've got anything ACPI-like installed. So I guess I need this only for the "capture power button events" stuff etc.?
- I've got pm-utils installed: HAL needs it - strangely "xfce4-power-manager" doesn't so I've got no idea what it uses
- Suspend to ram works fine (most of the time - sometimes it just stops/halts at a screen with a single _underscore)
- Suspend to disk sometimes seems to shut down fine, but after that just a normal boot follows when I press the power button

So: where should I start, what to look into / "fix stuff"?
- pm-utils?
- ACPI?
- xfce4-power-manager?
- hal / modules / kernel?
... and what logs am I to browse / when / what for?

Of course there's a lot of info to be found in wiki / on the internet, but I can't seem to be able to decide which part is "least deprecated" and most relevant to me somehow (especially the xfce-stuff seems to have changed a lot in the last months) - so thanks for any hint!

Re: [solved] ss-t-ram (working/xfce), s-to-disk (no working)

Had to do two things to make that work:

1) ditch the xfce4 power manager (got me rid of the 10% where it crashed instead of suspending) and configure pm-utils
2) add the prober info for my raid swap (didn't think of that first, added info to wiki) in menu.lst
