I set up a Arch Linux computer for my parents, it works well. But once I installed ``gimp'' double clicking on a picture starts gimp instead of the simple and fast picture viewer of LXDE.
I am not familiar with how the desktop environment decides what exec on double click... How it works?
I saw those .desktop files, but I could not get how to select the one to use in front of a particular mime type if more programs manage it.
Secondly, I use audacious for music... Can I put two separate effects ``enqueue'' and ``play outright'' in the right mouse button menu?
thanks for any piece of advice.

No idea how lxde does it, but in gnome and kde, you just right click -> preferences -> open with...

The point is changing the default behaviour. If I right click and select the correct program it works fine, but how can I select the default program when I double left click?

You can mostly do that by choosing "properties" in the right-click menu of a file.

Yes, and there is a file called
~/.local/share/application/defaults.list
with all the defaults.
Thanks everyone.
