[SOLVED]Java apps - not displaying properlly, just a simple gray area.

Hello Guys,

I have another rather stupid problem. When I am trying to run java applications, some of them start normally, but others...well, take a look:

I don't know what is causing this, but for example I can run eclipse normally, JDownloader runs rather smooth (for an java application), but on the other hand when I am trying to run jnlp from topcoder.com - here is the result:

I am using awesome 3.2 now, though the result is the same in openbox and in KDE4.

Does anyone got any clue or suggestion about this?

cheers,
praavDa.

The problem isn't with the Window Manager you use, but the java runtime you have installed. If you have openjdk6 installed, try removing it and install jre and jdk instead. If you have jre and jdk installed, install openjdk6 and see what happens.

I think you're using openjdk6, since I remember hearing problems using it and topcoder.

Set your wmname to LG3D using this utility.

Worked for me with Jabref and dwm.

What worked for my gray jabref me was

AWT_TOOLKIT="MToolkit"

in /etc/environment (needed to log out and in again)

Found it via google.
