Saved Gnome Sessions

Dear all,

I would like to collect and solve the "issue" of saved sessions. I found many saved sessions in /home/<user>/.metacity/sessions/ directory. The session files have long files names with a lot of numbers in it and end with "ms".

I checked google and the archlinux site for information on that topic. But I did not find anything suitable. Fact is, that I had many saved session in the above mentioned folder. After deleting the folder I have a feeling, that gnome starts faster.

I would like to solve the following questions:
1. Why are so many sessions saved?
2. How can I prevent gnome from saving so many sessions or how can it be automatically deleted?

Best regards,
Martin

Re: Saved Gnome Sessions

Interesting.  I have no ~/.metacity directory at all.  What is the size of your ~/.metacity/sessions ?

Re: Saved Gnome Sessions

I also do not have it any more. Another user I have on my system for developing has 420 files in that directory. Each files is 82 bytes long. And the group for each file is "audio". I will observe my current user.

When checking my gnome terminal in which I have executed "startx", I get an error message. The error says, that the saved session file can not be loaded/found. The referenced directory is "/home/<user>/.config/metacity/sessions/4378568347578345632978456937824567345.ms". Funny, I also do not have a ~/.config/metacity directory. But somewhere in a config file this directory/file is referenced and produces an error message.
