I installed monodevelop from community, and it installed fine, but now when I try and run it. The splash screen comes up but then nothing happens. It uses 100% of my cpu and eats up all my ram, but nothing is displayed in the console, and the splash screen stays loading at 0%. I've tried looking at the debug output but didn't see anything helpful. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

What if you will try to run it as root? Then console can give more errors.

Eh, two things.
1) DANGEROUS.
2) That doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
Try `man monodevelop` (or whatever the manpage is called) and see if there's a -v, --verbose, or equivalent flag.

Yup, maybe it is dangerous but sometimes apps are giving more errors under root than on normal user. Maybe some chmod's are missing or whatever? I am not sure but it happens to me sometimes.

mmm.. I've tried running it as root, and turning on all the logs and debug settings. But it doesn't show anything useful, no errors. It still just freezes on the splash screen and eats up all my ram and cpu. Does this package work for other people?

Yay! i got it working.. running `monodevelop --nologo` makes it skip the splash screen. So as long as i don't use the splash screen it works.
