On gnome shutdown it shows tty1 instead of tty7

I'm wondering about this for some time.
When I shutdown gnome it stops X and shows a login prompt from tty1.
So if I want to see the output of the daemons that are being stopped I need to switch to tty7.
A few months ago with KDE (kdm instead of gdm) I didnt' have this problem.
Anyone knows how to fix it?

Thanks
