[SOLVED] Awesome rejects my Rc.lua

Ever since awesome has been upgraded from version 3.2 to 3.3, it has not really done anything if I preserved my previous rc.lua.  I remember the transition from 3.0 to 3.1 was DAUNTING as the config file was hardly similar.  Yet my rc.lua which worked in version 3.2 cannot work in 3.3, and there's very SCANT documentation on awesome's website covering the changes.

Can anybody help or report similar problems?  I will tell you nothing shows up.  Not the keybindings, not the 'window decoration', not the statusbar.

Does it work with the default config file in /etc/xdg/awesome? Have you tried 'awesome -k'? Can you post the config?

You should look at ~/.xsession-errors. You can usually find enough there to solve the problem.

Nevermind I fixed it.  Yes it worked with the defaults, and I found the lines I had a problem with by using xinit.  Turns out my custom tag setup was incorrect syntax for Awesome 3.2/3.3.
