Get window list

I am fiddling with dzen2, and I find that I quite like it. I'm trying to get it to display the list of currently open windows in the slave window but I'm stuck on figuring out how to get that list. Can anybody give me a hand?

You can get the list from wmctrl if your window manager supports EWMH. A simple xlib calls in this program: http://tools.suckless.org/lsw, or also xwininfo -root -children

Thanks a lot. I used wmctrl -l and grepped it to display only windows with a "0" preceeding my hostename, then perl'd it up to display the windowname only.
