kde newb - volumes to display on desktop

Under Gnome mounted partitions are displayed as icons on my desktop.  Is there a way to get KDE to exhibit this behavior?  Sorry for the newb question.

KDE4 desktop has no icons. Only plasma widgets.
You can use Lancelot and it's "computer" submenu.

There is a plasma widget that shows a folder view on the desktop. I can't think of the exact name right now but it should be on the list of widgets you can add when you right click the desktop.

The "device notifier" widget could be placed on the desktop or the taskbar

@markisthejob - I like this widget, but it only works on recently mounted partitions is seems... if I have a data partition mounted to /media/data it only shows up when first mounted.  If it's in /etc/fstab it doesn't show up in this view sad

Why not have a folder view to "/media"?

Suppose I could, but I do like the device notifier widget.  Guess there isn't a way I can have it simply display selected mounted devices in addition to newly added ones.
