Boot time ext3 /home partition fails filesystem check, how to fix?

At boot, my ext3 /home partition fails filesystem checks. It either sends me to a root shell to fix the problem, or lets me reboot, then failing a filesystem check again.

How do I fix my ext3 partition?

Perhaps you should try to boot with a live-CD like Knoppix in order to fix your harddisk. Now you can check your partition manually with fsck. More helpful information could bei this:
