mc inside of urxvt makes system crash

have tried for like 10 times now. Whenever i start mc inside of a urxvt terminal my system crashes. Not even SysRQ is responding.

Fun thing: if i start it inside of screen it works. It also works just fine in xterm.

Any idea what might cause this?

Good grief.  I've never used urxvt at all, but my best guess is a graphics problem.  Maybe try disabling compositing if you have it turned on, and temporarily switch to the VESA video driver if this is appropriate?  Or maybe urxvt has some display options that would help.

Does it start responding again after a few minutes?

Because I had this once on an older machine, I forgot other details though, but it happened even outside X and just for the user.

ok... after i had tried around 20 times i thought give it a try and strace it.
But running "strace mc" worked just fine. And since then: problem gone.
