can't install gnome

I have just installed arch for the first time and I am trying to get a desktop up and running.

When I attempt to install gnome with pacman -S gnome it gives me some crap about a python dependency not being met. It says "error: cannot resolve "readline>-6.0.00", a dependency of "python"

Everything is synced and up to date.

Re: can't install gnome

pacman -S --force gnome-dektop gdm

try that...

Re: can't install gnome

Thanks for the quick reply, but still no luck.

It fails on the same dependency, but for libxm12 instead of python.

Re: can't install gnome

Try
pacman -Sy gnome
instead. If you still have similar warnings, then try switching download mirror.

Re: can't install gnome

You should mark it as solved then.
