Hi everyone, I had this annoying problem which I discovered last night. Everytime I show hidden files on konqueror and dolphin my netbook lags alot and the cpu usage goes above 50%. I tried some test to know the error, so I tried running dolphin as root. And guess what, it's working fine and not lagging. I tried also other file managers (pcmanfm, thunar), running them as normal user was fine as well. Even running dolphin on openbox had the same problem also.
Here are some infos when running it on konsole as normal user

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I'm having the same problem with kde-apps while running awesome, whereas if I run kde directly, everything works fine. Running as root solves the slowness problem.

Found it: for some reason, /var/tmp/kdecache-eyolf/kpc/{kde-icon-cache.data,kde-icon-cache.index} were owned by root.
