Hi all,
I updated my laptop last night and when I turned it on this morning, did the GNOME login, I was greeted by a blank blue screen with my cursor which I could move, and the message in the notification area:
The configuration defaults for GNOME power manager is not installed correctly, please contact your computer administrator.
I've tried reinstalling gnome-power-manager, but I still cannot get it to work. I've looked on google for solutions, but they're all for other distributions and won't work on my computer.
Thank you very much for your help.

Have you tried removing the gnome-power-manager and seeing if it loads? If that doesn't work, it might give more information as to the cause. If it works, then you've found the cause and we can examine it more closely.

Removing gnome-power-manager did not work. I still get the blank blue screen where all I can do is move my cursor.
If it helps, I can launch gnome-do and then open some apps from there. However the windows do not have a title bar and no close/minimize/maximize buttons.

That same update (gnome-power-manager 2.26.3) brought a problem to me too, altough I don't belive it's related to yours. Anyway I reported it here: [gnome-power-manager] Applet Problems.
