xpmroot not found

Hello helpful Arch community,  I'm new to arch (and not so ancient to linux/life either) so please excuse the newbiness.

The command xpmroot (allegedly to set the background of an x session) is not found, even from within xsessions (or if place in .xinitrc).  I am trying to use xmonad, on the guided tour it claims this xpmroot should work (don't know link-pasting-policy here but googling "xmonad guided tour" should bring up the page), and googling "xpmroot not found" returned surprisingly few results!

Thanks for any help and sorry if the question is a) stupid or b) poorly phrased!

Re: xpmroot not found

Have to admit I've never heard of xpmroot myself - but there are plenty of other ways to set backgrounds e.g. feh, nitrogen, to name just two. You can start by looking in the wiki.

Hahah, ya, seems like one of the less well known options.  I'm doing this on a netbook so do you happen to know a particularly minimal program to set the X background (i.e. no features, no waking up to check things 10 times a second, just sets my bg?).
