Screen Dims acts as System Beep <Solved>

Hi there,

Strange thing I noticed this morning. Whenever I was using TAB in terminal (when it does not auto-populate and instead shows you the possibilities) my screen dims for a second! This also happens if I open up a terminal and hit backspace. It seems like whenever a system-beep would occur (which i have disabled) my screen dims instead!

It's not too annoying - but I would like to know the cause. I thought maybe Compiz was the culprit. I turned it off, and tryed to replicate - no dim, but now the screen flashes instead.

EDIT: Remembered I was helping someone turn on compositing in metacity via gconf-editor. Thought I would check back there in case I accidentally set something - I did. Unchecked visible bell and all back to normal.
