Re: KDE 4.3.0 Caizen Released

Then why are you waiting?

I had KDE4.3 stable from Extra for several HOURS before the official release announcement. big_smile

Really?

Which repo? And how does it behave with upgrading from 4.2 with the new split packages?

I use the locke.suu.edu repo.

Module->split packaging went slick.  Some 3rd party plasmoids such as Stasks or QuickAccess will need recompiled/redownloaded...but dayum this 4.3 is nice. smile

Remember though, this is Vanilla KDE4.3 from Extra I'm talking about, and not KDEMod.

Re: KDE 4.3.0 Caizen Released

I upgraded without deleting my .kde4 directory and everything went smoothly - thanks to our great devs. KDE 4.3 is simply amazing. It is fast, the new policykit module is fantastic (a warning though: if you try to run the k3b setup module without changing policies, the system settings window will vanish :-)). Other cool stuff includes the opendesktop plasmoid and the interactive wallpapers, but most fascinating is the preview function in the folder plasmoids and in dolphin!! Amazing stuff!

Re: KDE 4.3.0 Caizen Released

I have a question: will the mentioned in release news translatoid widget be added to packages?

As for me, few things still don't work: can't get lokalize to use the new translate document feature, openDesktop widget caused my desktop to go completely black, new bug report tool also is useless since official arch packages have no debugging symbols in them and I just don't have the time nor will to compile them myself (like many end users I think).

First contact with 4.3.0 made me a bit disappointed. I'll have to check other new things from KDE 4.3 but for now I think it was released way to early...

OK, found it in unsupported repo in AUR. Akonadi google plugin is also in unsupported. What's the probability of moving them to extra or community?

Same here. Restarting plasma-desktop helped to get the desktop back but the widget does not work.
